Cold Case Delaware County
Ball State University Building Better Communities & The Criminal Justice & Criminology Department of Ball State University are once again allowing students the opportunity to immerse themselves into the world of unsolved homicide investigations. Students are getting the opportunity to conduct secondary investigations on actual unsolved homicide cases, more frequently referred to as cold cases. In the end, the students will create Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for distribution into the public through multiple avenues. The Ball State Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology will be working directly with the following community partners: Muncie Crime Stoppers, Muncie Police Department, Delaware County Sheriffs Office, and the Delaware County Coroners Office.

Cold Case: Middletown
Cold Case: Middletown was a Immersive Learning Course offered to Ball State Student through Ball State University and Building Better Communities who worked with the host agencies Muncie Police Department and Muncie Crime Stoppers. Eleven students took part in this course where they were able to complete a secondary investigation of four unsolved homicides that occurred in Muncie, Indiana. The end product of the course was a Public Service Announcement (PSA) to be released among a wide spectrum of media outlets in the hope of receiving a tip(s) from a viewer. These unsolved homicides have not been forgotten and those affected by these cases will never forget the day that their loves ones were unfairly taken away from them. Below is the four PSAs for the four cases that the Ball State Students worked on this past spring semester. Please take the time to view the PSAs and feel free to share the links on your personal social media accounts. Finally, these victims were people who did not deserve to have their life taken away from and we, as a community, through effective police work, awareness, and tips from those who know what happened can all help to bring these tragic unsolved cases to an end.
